What tee height works best for each club?

Here's general breakdown of which castle tee heights work best for each club:

  • Orange (70mm) – Perfect for drivers, giving maximum height for an optimal launch.
  • Pink (60mm) – Ideal for drivers, offering a slightly lower tee height for more control.
  • White (50mm) – For 3-woods if you like to tee it high or driver if you like to tee it really low.
  • Yellow (45mm) – Great for fairway woods if you like to catch the ball on the up.
  • Blue (38mm) – Suited for fairway woods or hybrids.
  • Red (32mm) – Perfect for long irons, hybrids and fairway woods. Probably to most versatile height suited to most players.
  • Green (25mm) – Designed for mid irons and bellow, giving minimal height for a crisp iron strike.

Review of Castle Golf Tee (45mm)

I ordered the 45mm castle golf tees, expecting the size to refer to the usable height above ground. However, the measurement actually includes the part that goes into the ground, which wasn’t made clear in the product description. Since I was only interested in the height above ground, I ended up with tees shorter than I expected.

I paid £14.38 for two bags including delivery, which feels a bit steep given the mix-up with sizing. The tees themselves seem to be of decent quality, but the unclear sizing information was disappointing. A clearer explanation of how the length is measured would have helped avoid confusion.

Overall: Good quality, but misleading size description and not the best value for money.

On castle tees, the sizes are part of a standard colour-coded system most golfers recognise. We do include guidance in the product FAQ (“What tee height works best for each club?”) in the dropdown at the bottom of the page, but you’re right that a visual and a quick note in the description would help — so we’re adding a simple diagram with above-ground equivalents to avoid future mix-ups.
